What are the learnings in agribusiness management?

Agribusiness management teaches students how to apply management principles to the agriculture sector to improve planning, finances, production, marketing, distribution and services. Students also learn how to use land, labour and technology efficiently in farming as well as how to adopt new farming techniques, precision agriculture and sustainable practices to improve agricultural productivity and quality. Other areas to consider are agricultural product storage and distribution to consumers as well as sales in both domestic and international markets.  The program teaches branding, budgeting, insurance and the issuance of credit and subsidies, as needed. Understanding government policies on trade laws, food safety standards, labour laws, and environmental laws is also an important part.

Why is agribusiness management so important in India?

Agribusiness management is more important in India than in many other countries because more than 65% of the Indian population lives in rural areas. Agriculture and allied sectors contributed 18.3% to India's Gross Value Added (GDA) in 2022-23, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare and India's agriculture production in a specific area is much lower than in many countries including China and the United States. The other very significant factor is to provide a stable food supply of wheat, rice and pulses to 1.4 billion people.
